But my bigger concern is how this is done: 1) teach someone the Bible 2) train them to be grateful 3) teach someone to equate “doing UBF work” with “giving God the glory” 4) setup a business mission enterprise.

I contend that we are not to live our Christian life out of gratitude or to “be a blessing”. Gratitude and blessing others are subsidiary to the gospel. Christians are people seeking God’s grace each day and out of the overflow of grace, they serve. Our “good works” never produce more grace. Grace always flows from God to and through us.

But this “business mission” creates an un-Biblical cycle of grace-works-grace-works driven by gratitude.

Imagine the degree of control that these relationships enable. Not only do the chapter leaders command your obedience, but they also control your livelihood. This would raise the eyebrows of ethical people in any institution, but not in UBF, apparently.

The fact that New Jersey/Princeton and Bonn chapters are advancing “business mission” is not surprising, given the family/other connections between New Jersey/Princeton UBF and Bonn UBF:

“1) Business Mission Ministry
Through Business Mission Ministry in Bonn UBF was able to invite and support various missionaries from Korea and helped them to Establish a solid foundation for settling down in German society.”

“In 2008, God opened a new way to call missionaries from Korea. Missionary Abraham and Sarah Lee’s house church joined NJ ministry with H1 Visa through the business mission called “Princeton Honors Review”, which invited Moses and Sarah Pauline Kim’s house church in 2007. I thank God for using the business mission of “Princeton Honors Review” to call many from Korea as missionaries. I pray that God may open the door for many Korean coworkers to come to America as missionaries by any possible ways.”
