{"id":3933,"date":"2018-01-20T18:31:57","date_gmt":"2018-01-20T23:31:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ubfriends.net\/?p=3933"},"modified":"2018-02-09T18:44:32","modified_gmt":"2018-02-09T23:44:32","slug":"the-curse-of-knowledge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ubfriends.org\/ubfriends2015\/the-curse-of-knowledge\/","title":{"rendered":"The curse of knowledge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"separator\">People might wonder how I could have stayed in UBF all those years? \u00a0How could I have believed something so stupid for so long?<\/p>\n<p class=\"separator\">The honest truth is I never believed it, I simply assumed the people meant something intelligent<\/p>\n<p class=\"separator\">Whenever they talked about the Bible teaching to obey people, I simply assumed they meant the Bible teaches to obey certain people unless ______. \u00a0But they actually meant the Bible teaches to obey certain people no matter what.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"separator\"><span style=\"color: #222222;font-family: sans-serif\">The\u00a0<\/span><b>curse of knowledge<\/b><span style=\"color: #222222;font-family: sans-serif\">\u00a0is a\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"Cognitive bias\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cognitive_bias\">cognitive bias<\/a><span style=\"color: #222222;font-family: sans-serif\">\u00a0that occurs when an individual, communicating with other individuals, unknowingly assumes that the others have the background to understand.<\/span><sup id=\"cite_ref-Kennedy1995_1-0\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Curse_of_knowledge#cite_note-Kennedy1995-1\">[1]<\/a><\/sup><span style=\"color: #222222;font-family: sans-serif\">\u00a0For example, in a classroom setting, teachers have difficulty teaching novices because they cannot put themselves in the position of the student. A brilliant professor might no longer remember the difficulties that a young student encounters when learning a new subject.
