There were concerns from viewers about the content I have been uploading to ubfriends.net
It was unfortunate enough that El Camino UBF sent one of their current members to my house late at night to harass my folks less than 90 days ago. But when I received word that Karcher was being contacted that is when I paused to think.
Karcher is more than an author and an admin of ubfriends. He is one of my closest friends. I don’t want El Camino UBF or anyone else that is pro-UBF to start harassing him. At the same time the articles I made received no less than four hearts. So after talking to Karcher and so of my close friends we came to a reasonable negotiation.
I have as of this post removed the articles that I made which contained a lot of personal info on specific members of El Camino UBF from ubfriends.net. For those who wish to see the content I have transferred the material to my personal blog: https://agentd33.blogspot.com/
I also want to apologize to you viewers who felt that they weren’t receiving any healing when visiting. For that I am truly sorry because my intention was never to hinder anyone from healing.
To David W. I am downcast to see you leave this site. If I have in anyway caused you to leave this site because of my articles then I truly apologize.
Starting from this point on any articles on El Camino UBF will most likely be on my personal blog.
Thank you Karcher for keeping me in check. I can’t thank you enough.
Eric, I am honored to be your friend. That is what this site is all about, isn’t it? Most of us had no friends at UBF, so making friends is often awkward or challenging.
One characteristic of this website is that there is always a silent readership–made up of both UBFers and ex-UBFers, and including current high level UBF leaders. It may seem like few are reading, but from the feedback I get, I know there are numerous silent readers.
We readily understand that UBFism is a trap. I suggest we realize that anti-UBFism is also a trap, and just as strong.
I surely understand the need to vent, and “you be friends” satisfies that purpose well. Maybe that is the primary purpose of this site, and that’s ok. Having been “trained” by ubf to be “world class leaders”, we should not be surprised by the messy nature of our expressions. I was messy and crossed many boundaries–because that is the nature of ubf training. And the ubfriends network is a major part of my own healing and restoration.
I am comitted to paying for these websites–I want our stories to be told far and wide. I pay for the hosting through my books (*shameless plug* Please buy my 4 books about UBF to keep this site open!) I also know ubf members read these things–I want them to know they have friends here. So if ubfriends “bashes UBFism”, that’s fair game. But when it comes to individual people, I suggest we show far more respect. We are free to vent and to bash, but love requires us to lean to be kind.
I am revamping the “ubfriends.org” website soon. I am going to pattern the .org site to be like the former member site from ICoC: reveal.org
ubfriends.org will become a more static collection of material with the aim of being a one-stop resource for those who wish to leave ubf and rebuild their lives.
ubfriends.net is your site for now, Eric. Use it however you wish! I hope it continues to be a network of support for former ubf members, and a connecting site for current ubf members, even if they continue to remain silent and can’t handle our H.O.T. discussions.
