John Baik is the chapter director of (Shepherds Church Gardena) El Camino UBF which is now known as (Harvest South Bay Church Torrance) El Camino UBF. He has decide to respond to ubfriends by sending his student Clifford Tylin Rothrock to send a letter to me. As you’ll see in the letter UBF in 2017 is no different than UBF in 1985. In fact Clifford’s letter is quite similar to Mark’s letter in UBF dialogue, insider language, and more.<\/p>\n

Here is my commentary , corrections, etc:<\/p>\n

By Jesus he is referring to Baik in third person. More details later.<\/p>\n

You act like you do not like us, the ministry, Msn John or myself.<\/em><\/p>\n

It is the ministry as whole and people’s actions that I didn’t like. Not the people themselves.<\/p>\n

From the beginning, you would text me with despising words<\/em><\/p>\n

Wrong. I wasn’t like that in the beginning. I start waking up and challenging the ministry the last year I was there 2016. If I truly texted you “despising words” then please post the screenshots online. If you are not lying about that and have undisputed evidence of that you should have no problem making such information public.<\/p>\n

we texted each other and you obviously had contempt for me or the ministry.<\/em><\/p>\n

Again, if you have evidence for this do demonstrate this publicly online. That is if you didn’t make it up.<\/p>\n

You even called Msn John “old man Baik” at one point.<\/em><\/p>\n

I don’t recall in memory of ever doing so. If you have physical evidence for this show it. If not then this is a demonstration of Rothrock gaslighting<\/a> me in a subtle way.<\/p>\n

You have reached out to others in the ministry verbalizing your contempt for the ministry.<\/em><\/p>\n

In UBF when a longtime member stops participating in the activities and starts to question and\/or challenge the ministry they understand it as contempt. It was not out of contempt but concern. In fact at the time I had a desire to reform UBF.<\/p>\n

You have even written a blog, quite obviously showing your contempt for the ministry.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

By blog he is not only referring to my personal blog but to ubfriends.net as well. This is interesting for\u00a0when my bible teacher first found out about the blog by a current member of the church he acted all “caring” and went as far as to say quote “You must have been upset before”.\u00a0\u00a0But now he and the seniors are pissed off that I made a lot of online content about them. To this day I still don’t know who betrayed me.<\/p>\n

However, on the other hand you want to be one with us and be with us. You come to have Bible study and come to worship service. So, obviously these things do not match. They are quite contrasting. This is not logical, because they do not line up, they do not match, one does not follow the other.<\/em><\/p>\n

When things don’t go their way and you do something they don’t expect they come to have this understanding. What I want to note here is that he is using logic instead of the bible. In UBF it is\u00a0 not only frowned upon but also considered a sin to use logic so for that reason I find it interesting he admitted to using logic. What is incorrect about this statement was at the time Rothrock wrote this I already stop going to bible study.<\/p>\n

That is why at one point I asked you why do you still come?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Apparently amnesia<\/a> is quite prevalent in the church. For I stated several times that the reason I still went there in 2016 was in hopes to not only reform UBF but to reach out to any of the junior members who have also have concerns regarding issues in the church.<\/p>\n

But, instead of looking to yourself and seeing your problem, you try to find blame with me, or the ministry.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

In other words he is saying that the church [El Camino UBF] was never at fault and that it’s just me. Yet, they would have secret meeting and even threaten members<\/a>. Inthe biblical it is ok at times to challenge Christian leaders. Hereare two biblical examples:<\/p>\n

Nathan confronted King David<\/p>\n

2 Samuel 12:1-13\u00a0<\/span>New International Version (NIV)<\/span><\/h1>\n

Nathan Rebukes David<\/span><\/h3>\n

12\u00a0<\/span>The\u00a0Lord<\/span>\u00a0sent Nathan\u00a0to David.\u00a0When he came to him,\u00a0he said, \u201cThere were two men in a certain town, one rich and the other poor.<\/span>2\u00a0<\/sup>The rich man had a very large number of sheep and cattle,<\/span>\u00a03\u00a0<\/sup>but the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb he had bought. He raised it, and it grew up with him and his children. It shared his food, drank from his cup and even slept in his arms. It was like a daughter to him.<\/span><\/p>\n

4\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cNow a traveler came to the rich man, but the rich man refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare a meal for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the ewe lamb that belonged to the poor man and prepared it for the one who had come to him.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

5\u00a0<\/sup>David\u00a0burned with anger\u00a0against the man\u00a0and said to Nathan, \u201cAs surely as the\u00a0Lord<\/span>\u00a0lives,\u00a0the man who did this must die!<\/span>\u00a06\u00a0<\/sup>He must pay for that lamb four times over,\u00a0because he did such a thing and had no pity.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

7\u00a0<\/sup>Then Nathan said to David, \u201cYou are the man!\u00a0This is what the\u00a0Lord<\/span>, the God of Israel, says: \u2018I anointed\u00a0you\u00a0king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.<\/span>\u00a08\u00a0<\/sup>I gave your master\u2019s house to you,\u00a0and your master\u2019s wives into your arms. I gave you all Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more.<\/span>\u00a09\u00a0<\/sup>Why did you despise\u00a0the word of the\u00a0Lord<\/span>\u00a0by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down\u00a0Uriah\u00a0the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed\u00a0him with the sword of the Ammonites.<\/span>\u00a010\u00a0<\/sup>Now, therefore, the sword\u00a0will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

11\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cThis is what the\u00a0Lord<\/span>\u00a0says: \u2018Out of your own household\u00a0I am going to bring calamity on you.\u00a0Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you, and he will sleep with your wives in broad daylight.<\/span>\u00a012\u00a0<\/sup>You did it in secret,\u00a0but I will do this thing in broad daylight\u00a0before all Israel.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

13\u00a0<\/sup>Then David said to Nathan, \u201cI have sinned\u00a0against the\u00a0Lord<\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Nathan replied, \u201cThe\u00a0Lord<\/span>\u00a0has taken away\u00a0your sin.\u00a0You are not going to die.<\/span><\/p>\n

King David was actual Nathan’s superior. Yet as you can see in the passage God doesn’t just speak to only ‘Seniors’ and missionary but also to those who are ‘little children’ basically those who are lower ranked. Did Nathan ever get punished for challenging God’s anointed? No.<\/p>\n

Peter and the disciples challenged the Teachers of the law of Moses<\/p>\n

Acts 4 and Acts 5;17-42\u00a0<\/span>New International Version (NIV)<\/span><\/h1>\n

Acts 4<\/p>\n

Peter and John Before the Sanhedrin<\/span><\/h3>\n

4\u00a0<\/span>The priests and the captain of the temple guard\u00a0and the Sadduceescame up to Peter and John while they were speaking to the people.<\/span>2\u00a0<\/sup>They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people, proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.<\/span>\u00a03\u00a0<\/sup>They seized Peter and John and, because it was evening, they put them in jail\u00a0until the next day.<\/span>\u00a04\u00a0<\/sup>But many who heard the message believed; so the number of men who believed grew\u00a0to about five thousand.<\/span><\/p>\n

5\u00a0<\/sup>The next day the rulers,\u00a0the elders and the teachers of the law met in Jerusalem.<\/span>\u00a06\u00a0<\/sup>Annas the high priest was there, and so were Caiaphas,John, Alexander and others of the high priest\u2019s family.<\/span>\u00a07\u00a0<\/sup>They had Peter and John brought before them and began to question them: \u201cBy what power or what name did you do this?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

8\u00a0<\/sup>Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit,\u00a0said to them: \u201cRulers and elders of the people!<\/span>\u00a09\u00a0<\/sup>If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame\u00a0and are being asked how he was healed,<\/span>\u00a010\u00a0<\/sup>then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,\u00a0whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead,\u00a0that this man stands before you healed.<\/span>\u00a011\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus is<\/span><\/p>\n

13\u00a0<\/sup>When they saw the courage of Peter and John\u00a0and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men,\u00a0they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.<\/span>\u00a014\u00a0<\/sup>But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say.<\/span>\u00a015\u00a0<\/sup>So they ordered them to withdraw from the Sanhedrinand then conferred together.<\/span>\u00a016\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cWhat are we going to do with these men?\u201d\u00a0they asked. \u201cEveryone living in Jerusalem knows they have performed a notable sign,\u00a0and we cannot deny it.<\/span>\u00a017\u00a0<\/sup>But to stop this thing from spreading any further among the people, we must warn them to speak no longer to anyone in this name.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

18\u00a0<\/sup>Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.<\/span>\u00a019\u00a0<\/sup>But Peter and John replied, \u201cWhich is right in God\u2019s eyes: to listen to you, or to him?\u00a0You be the judges!<\/span>\u00a020\u00a0<\/sup>As for us, we cannot help speaking\u00a0about what we have seen and heard.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

21\u00a0<\/sup>After further threats they let them go. They could not decide how to punish them, because all the people\u00a0were praising God\u00a0for what had happened.<\/span>\u00a022\u00a0<\/sup>For the man who was miraculously healed was over forty years old….<\/span><\/p>\n

Acts 5:17-42<\/p>\n

The Apostles Persecuted<\/span><\/h3>\n

17\u00a0<\/sup>Then the high priest and all his associates, who were members of the party\u00a0of the Sadducees,\u00a0were filled with jealousy.<\/span>\u00a018\u00a0<\/sup>They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail.<\/span>\u00a019\u00a0<\/sup>But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail\u00a0and brought them out.<\/span>\u00a020\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cGo, stand in the temple courts,\u201d he said, \u201cand tell the people all about this new life.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

21\u00a0<\/sup>At daybreak they entered the temple courts, as they had been told, and began to teach the people.<\/span><\/p>\n

When the high priest and his associates\u00a0arrived, they called together the Sanhedrin\u2014the full assembly of the elders of Israel\u2014and sent to the jail for the apostles.<\/span>\u00a022\u00a0<\/sup>But on arriving at the jail, the officers did not find them there.\u00a0So they went back and reported,<\/span>\u00a023\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cWe found the jail securely locked, with the guards standing at the doors; but when we opened them, we found no one inside.\u201d<\/span>\u00a024\u00a0<\/sup>On hearing this report, the captain of the temple guard and the chief priests\u00a0were at a loss, wondering what this might lead to.<\/span><\/p>\n

25\u00a0<\/sup>Then someone came and said, \u201cLook! The men you put in jail are standing in the temple courts teaching the people.\u201d<\/span>\u00a026\u00a0<\/sup>At that, the captain went with his officers and brought the apostles. They did not use force, because they feared that the people\u00a0would stone them.<\/span><\/p>\n

27\u00a0<\/sup>The apostles were brought in and made to appear before the Sanhedrin\u00a0to be questioned by the high priest.<\/span>\u00a028\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cWe gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,\u201d\u00a0he said. \u201cYet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man\u2019s blood.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

29\u00a0<\/sup>Peter and the other apostles replied: \u201cWe must obey God rather than human beings!<\/span>\u00a030\u00a0<\/sup>The God of our ancestors\u00a0raised Jesus from the dead\u2014whom you killed by hanging him on a cross.<\/span>\u00a031\u00a0<\/sup>God exalted him to his own right hand\u00a0as Prince and Savior\u00a0that he might bring Israel to repentance and forgive their sins.<\/span>\u00a032\u00a0<\/sup>We are witnesses of these things,and so is the Holy Spirit,\u00a0whom God has given to those who obey him.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

33\u00a0<\/sup>When they heard this, they were furious\u00a0and wanted to put them to death.<\/span>\u00a034\u00a0<\/sup>But a Pharisee named Gamaliel,\u00a0a teacher of the law,\u00a0who was honored by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a little while.<\/span>\u00a035\u00a0<\/sup>Then he addressed the Sanhedrin: \u201cMen of Israel, consider carefully what you intend to do to these men.<\/span>\u00a036\u00a0<\/sup>Some time ago Theudas appeared, claiming to be somebody, and about four hundred men rallied to him. He was killed, all his followers were dispersed, and it all came to nothing.<\/span>\u00a037\u00a0<\/sup>After him, Judas the Galilean appeared in the days of the census\u00a0and led a band of people in revolt. He too was killed, and all his followers were scattered.<\/span>38\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail.<\/span>39\u00a0<\/sup>But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

40\u00a0<\/sup>His speech persuaded them. They called the apostles in and had them flogged.\u00a0Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.<\/span><\/p>\n

41\u00a0<\/sup>The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing\u00a0because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.<\/span>\u00a042\u00a0<\/sup>Day after day, in the temple courts\u00a0and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news\u00a0that Jesus is the Messiah.<\/span><\/p>\n

Did the disciples get punished by God for challenging the teachers of the law? No<\/p>\n

In both examples in the bible the disciples and Nathan were by definition rebellious and challenge someone that had a higher rank than them. It is ok to challenge Christian leaders as long as it is accordance to the bible and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n

You have a demon problem.<\/em><\/p>\n

UBF’s definition of demon possession is different from the bible’s defintion of demon possession. Here is the bible’s defintion of demon possession.<\/p>\n

And one of the crowd answered Him, “Teacher, I brought You my son, possessed with a spirit which makes him mute<\/p>\n

Demons Harming Individuals<\/a><\/h3>\n

Mark 5:5<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Constantly, night and day, he was screaming among the tombs and in the mountains, and gashing himself with stones.<\/p>\n

Revelation 16:14<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

for they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them together for the war of the great day of God, the Almighty.<\/p>\n

Matthew 8:28<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

When He came to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, two men who were demon-possessed met Him as they were coming out of the tombs. They were so extremely violent that no one could pass by that way.<\/p>\n

Basically demons:<\/p>\n
