2014 Academy Award Predictions

The 85th Academy Awards® will air live on Oscar® Sunday, February 24, 2013.This is for fun, since the 2014 Oscar nominations were announced today. But rest assured I am seriously engaged in the present discussions about The Shepherding Movement and UBF. I look forward to reading Big Bear’s book, The Year The World Ended. And I learned much from Joe and Brian critiquing my Deuteronomy 1 sermon on Sin. Here are my predictions, though I have not seen all the movies:

  1. “The Great Gatsby” was an amazing movie. I loved the movie and yes the designs were astounding.

“Frozen” jumped into my top 5 all time movie list of best movies ever. This movie brought much healing to my heart.

  2. For some diversionary fun, watch Peter Travers (my favorite movie critic after Roger Ebert) damn the Oscars with his polemics!: http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/videos/damn-you-oscars-says-peter-travers-20140116

  3. Being in Manila at present, this is the first time in years that I did not watch the Academy Awards. But from the above predictions I got ONLY three incorrect!:

    * Best supporting actress to Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave) instead of Jennifer Lawrence (American Hustle). Well deserved.

    * Best makeup to Dallas Buyers Club instead of Lone Ranger.

    * Best original song to Let It Go (Frozen) instead of Mandela. I had not heard Let It Go at that time, but it well deserved to win.
